Ian Raby was born in September 1922. He owned a garage in  Brighton and  traded second-hand racing cars. “He was a hugely popular figure in the Paddock, and not only for his ability to source a suitable car for the prospective racer.” [1]http://www.500race.org/Men/Raby.htm

Ian Raby (Racing) Ltd. was an agent for purchasing sports and racing cars. They offered Lotus Cars, Brabham Balancing, Alexander Engineering and others. Through Ian Raby (Conversions)Ltd., they prepared rally and racing cars and offered to convert “any road car” for racing.

A showroom was at Empire Cars Ltd. 85 Preston Road, Brighton 63344. Works were located at 10 Wilbury Grove, Hove, 774069. Brian Mann was contact for the Works. [2]Autosport, 25 Jun 1965, p. 1021.
